With a record of 411 matches in the first division, 26 in the Champions League, 8 in the European Cup and 2 semi-finals in the World Cup in 1982 and 1986, five times French Champion and 2 French cups, Tigana finally brought his football-playing career to an end at the age of 36. He went on to coach many teams such as the Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco (where he won the award for the best coach in French Football in 1997), Fulham, Istanbul, Bordeaux and Shanghai. Nevertheless, Jean Tigana is equally passionate about wine-making. As early as 1987, he acquired a domain of vineyards in the Bordeaux region that he sold some time later and moved to the foothills of Cap Canaille in Cassis where he became the proprietor of the renowned 15-hectare estate La Dona Tigana.
